It was followed in 1976 by the Palace of the Republic, seat of the GDR parliament and popular cultural center. After its closure and demolition, the construction and finally the (digital) opening of the Humboldt Forum followed in 2020, which reflects the history of the place and its predecessors in its exhibitions, its architecture and atmosphere.
